A first step is to arrange to have a financial and health and welfare Lasting Power of attorney LPA. The PLA will allow you to appoint family or friends who you trust to manage and look after your affairs in the event you are not in a position to be able to do so yourself.
This will provide a voice for someone who cares about you and who knows your preferences best, to advocate on your behalf with social services and other professional including the NHS and care home staff.
